Tim Hales Wanaka Bmx Jam

Aitkin Critical Condition

From mikeaitken.com: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike, who was injured on Sunday while riding with friends in Pennsylvania. Mike is currently in critical condition in the ICU at St. Luke's hospital in Bethlehem, PA. His wife and parents have flown from Salt Lake City, UT to be by his side.

Mike was rushed to the hospital early Sunday afternoon after over-rotating a 360 and taking a severe blow to the head. Emergency staff immediately sedated Mike who was reportedly disoriented and convulsing, he has not regained consciousness since".

Donations are being taken to help with Mike's hospital bills. Although they are one of the worlds richest countries the U.S. is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system.....which means unlike australia you have to buy private health cover. If you dont have cover then a hospital visit can be very expensive!! A broken leg and a few days in hospital could easily cost $50,000.

Since Aitkin's profession is bmx the insurance companies consider him a risk and would not insure him, which means he gets stuck with the bill. Its already enough that mike has sustained possible life changing injurys without having to wory about a life changing hospital bill. Help out by making a donation at 5050bmx

Jimmy Levan Busted Again!

Turbo just got back from the USA after a few months in the north west. Just before heading back turbo heard word that Jimmy had been in another accident. After his recent head injury you wouldnt think he could be so unlucky.... But he had been hit by a car! He recieved a boken femur along with other things

Turbo got to catch up with him before leaving and sent over a couple photos of Jimmy straight out of hospital.

Sneak Peak

Russ Heads to America

Russ left Aus about a week ago to head over to America. Straight off the plane he grabbed a bottle of whisky and headed to a Lucero gig! Also been eyeing off the sweet track bikes around the New York streets.

Some sessions at Posh and Caddy trails are sure to be a regular occurrence along with a bit of chill time his fiancé Emily who hails from New Jersey.

North West Chillin

Airport Love

Mr Rick Haward has just left the land of Aus and will be enjoying the next month or so taking advantage of the long scandanavian summer days. I just got a short mail while he was soaking up the hard floors and anti sleep chairs at stockholm airport between flights.

Rick is heading up to northern SWEDEN to do some bmx summer camp coaching before taking some time to enjoy the countryside. The camp has been organised by good mate Jens Linberg and supported by CHILD STORE.

Puni Knee Op Update

Puni just sent an update on the big knee operation.........

Hey hunt,  
Well I went in hospital wednesday morning at 7 oclock and waited till 1 when i got wheeled away to the shiny silver table.
 
I woke up and it felt like someone was cutting my leg off with a hacksaw, i got some morphiene into me and was ok for a while. I had to spend 2 days in hospital.
 
Im at home now and i have a full leg brace. In total 6-8 weeks in leg brace then 6 months till i can think about riding soflty and anything up to 18 months till its 100% good.
 
...........wishing you a fast recovery brother...

Boooom Tyso Web Edit

About 6 months ago Tyson took a heavy slam leaving him with a cracked skull. He came out pretty dam lucky with no permanent damage and was just told to take it easy for 6 months.......but now time is just about up and i reckon its back on!!!

Tyson's brother was in town last week and he has put together a sweet vid of tyson SHREDDING!!

Heavy Days!

yo hunt,
whats crackin?

I just had the first part of my knee operation done about a week ago, which was just an arthroscope to clean it up again and take some cartilage out at the same time.
 
Now i have some cartilage growing in a test tube in a lab in sydney.  They grow it for 4-6 weeks till its at the right point to implant back into the middle of my knee where i have a hole that needs to be filled.. 
 
So il be heading back to the shiny silver table of doom in about 3-4 weeks i reckon. Then its gonna be a pretty long recovery.
Full leg brace for 8 weeks with only slight degrees on movement. Then the doc reckons it will be 6 months till im walking again and anything up to 18 months before im 100% good.......FFFFUUUUCCCCKKKK...   i say.
 
So im back riding again for the moment and plan to enjoy it as much as possable over the next month. Old manitis is starting to kick in!
